Sojourner Truth died in Battle Creek. 

Preacher, abolitionist, and women’s rights advocate, Sojourner Truth moved to Battle Creek after the Civil War. Born a slave in New York in the late 1790s, Truth became an outspoken orator who captivated audiences. Her funeral was described as the largest Battle Creek had ever witnessed.
